What are the types of oral surgery?

Extractions

An extraction is a quick, outpatient procedure that removes one (or more) of your teeth. You might need an extraction if you develop a deep cavity, have a severe case of gum disease, or are preparing to undergo orthodontic treatment.

Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy removes the pulp from the center of a tooth. By removing dental pulp that’s infected or inflamed, it’s possible to limit the pain and preserve your natural tooth.

Wisdom teeth removal

Wisdom teeth are the last of your permanent teeth to come in. Since they’re located at the back of your mouth, they’re also more likely to become impacted. If one or more wisdom teeth are unable to break through your gum line, Dr. Davidson might recommend removing them.

Is oral surgery painful?

No. Oral surgery is safe and well-tolerated. To help you relax, Dr. Davidson offers local anesthesia as well as sedation dentistry with nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a colorless, odorless gas that promotes feelings of relaxation and euphoria.
